3 Reasons To Call A Life Coach

Did you know that successful people like Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have coaches?

It’s true.

But does that mean you need one?

You know when to call a doctor, but…

When is the problem big enough or is the situation right for coaching?

You certainly don’t want to pay for something that doesn’t help your situation.

Here are 3 Reasons to Call A Life Coach.

You Don’t Know Your Purpose.

If you don’t know why you are at a job, church, in a relationship, or position, schedule a session with a life coach.

Every activity we engage in without purpose requires more from us than it gives back.

You can make this work for a while, but it’s not sustainable.

The only way to keep it up without purpose is through sheer willpower or shifting your brain into a passive mode.

And that’s a recipe for burnout, crisis, resentment, or disappointment.

A life coach can help you see who you are and what you value—your purpose.

Then you can say “no” to the things that pull more out of you than put into you.

You Don’t Know What To Do Next

In Necessary Endings, Dr. Henry Cloud wrote,

“Endings are not only part of life; they are a requirement for living and thriving, professionally and personally.”

So, once you’ve ended something that had to end, now what?

If you want to live your life and get the most meaning and joy from it, the answer to that question shouldn’t come from someone else.

It must come from you.

And that’s where a life coach can help.

A good life coach can ask powerful questions that draw out what you want to do next and what you can do to get there.

You’re Stuck in Bad Habits and Thoughts

Everybody ruminates.

We all sit on a thought or two again and again.

That isn’t always bad.

For instance, thinking of a great memory over and over can increase happiness.

But many times, our repetitive thoughts are toxically negative.

“I’m going to fail.”

“No one can love me.”

“Things aren’t going to change.”

Additionally, many of our habits are destructive.

They seem to confirm or instigate the negative thinking patterns.

A life coach can help you draw out thinking patterns where you see them for what they are—helpful or harmful.

And when you see your deepest reoccurring thoughts that hold you back from constructive mindsets and habits, you have the power to change your thoughts.

Maybe you already know your purpose, know what you are doing next, and only have constructive thoughts and habits.

That’s fantastic!

But maybe someone you know is struggling with these problems.

Now you know when to recommend a coach!

These are just the first three reasons anyone should schedule with a life coach.

I’ll post about the final three reasons you may need a life coach in a couple of weeks.
